New items for spring

I saw some beautiful silk and paper roses a couple of weekends ago and decided that they would make some really lovely brooches in time for valentines day or mothers day. With a little ribbon, lace and fastenings I think they have turned out just lovely. What do you think ??
My craft area has now been redesigned and with some new storage looks great took all of three days to completely get rid of stuff I have had for years and label and tidy all the other stuff but it does look goos and very user friendly. Hoping that I can now find everything that I want instead of searching through alsorts of stuff. Having said that havent started the jewellery making stuff or needlework stuff but thats for another day I think.

Now my next project is having been shown a beautiful book for knitted fairies by a good friend I decided I had to have it !! So this weekend I have been making my first and so far she is looking good got the body done and her decoration have to do the hard part now the face so wish me luck better get back to it ! I will post a pic once she is finished if that is she actually looks any good.

Happy New Year !

Well just like to say a happy new year to all my blog readers and hope you all had a great christmas we had a new addition just before christmas in the form of Mylee a new Starlight cat ! She is a black and white moggy and so far she isnt getting on too badly with our other cat Ellie apart from when they both want to get through the door at the same time.
I have spent the last few days updating my website and uploading lots of new items some of which are on sale at reduced prices and some have free postage and packing so its well worth a visit to check out some bargains. At www.starlightaromatherapy.co.uk and keep checking back new items are always being added.
Some of my new items are a bit steam punk like in an antique bronze finish some new kilt pin brooches and charm bracelets which I really like as they have an Alice in Wonderland theme.

I am also in the process of trying out some new material and felt flower brooches I sold all the last lot of felt flower brooches at the last christmas fair I did which was great news. Thank you to the lady who bought them for small gifts for friends.
Well almost time to go back to work and I wont have time to play on here and the website for much longer but dont forget I have a page on Facebook too which I try and update regularly. In fact the facenbook page has all the christmas stuff reduced and on sale so if you get chance check out that one too.

Are you ready for christmas ??

Well got most of my christmas shopping done and some of my cards made although not all of them ! Have been busy making a few cards ready for the next christmas fair which is next saturday and look at doing a few gift packs maybe for people who need to get that special gift.
Once this sale is over I am hoping to revamp the website with new pitures and items so keep re visiting and having a look !

Busy busy busy!!

Well I havent had much time recently to come along and update the blog. I have been busy making christmas related products some tree decorations and of course christmas cards ready for the last few fairs. Yesterday say Starlight Gifts at the QED Pre Christmas Fair in Sutton Coldfield with 20 stalls all selling beautiful gifts and with taster therapy sessions it was a great day. One thing about the Mind, Body, Spirit fairs there are always lovely people to meet and a warm positive energy about the place.
The comments on Starlight Gifts was very positive and the christmas cards "Enchanted Christmas" went down really well.
So it was a positive day and I cant help getting a warm glow when someone appreciates something I have made and buys it. This sort of makes up for the fact that most of us crafters work for very little per hour on what we make. But ask any fellow crafter why they do it and they will say they just love making things. I do try and price my gifts at a reasonable cost so that they can be bought by anyone and so profits are kept to minimum. Pity as I would love to do this full time but then you never know dreams do come true !!

More Fairs

Just popped on to say another couple of fairs will be coming up soon first will be 19th November at the Fellowship Hall Sutton Coldfield 10.00am to 4.00pm and the second will be at the Highbury Little Theatre and that one is free entry proceeds from the raffle going to the upkeep of the theatre.
Starlight will be at both of these so if you live near by put the dates in the diary and come and say hi. I would love to meet you and its a great excuse to come and buy some lovely gifts as presents or for yourself.

Latest projects

Have decided that christmas must be faced so have been making christmas cards and Tags, bits and bobs for the next few fairs and of course the website.
Last sunday business was very good and I managed to sell all the christmas cards I had made and the tags so this inspired me to make more yesterday managed to get hold of the beautiful Papermania Enchanted Christmas pack to make some lovely cards. I think everyone must have been inspired by this little pack as most places have sold out. I am hoping that when I go to the NEC in a couple of weeks to the Hobbycrafts show I might find another pack. So what does the pack look like well heres a few I made earlier!!

As you can see these little cards are were very easy to do and I always think thats the key to christmas cards as so many have to be made up usually just for my personal use, this year is the first year I am selling any. Not sure whether I will even have time to make any for me this year !!!
Another great idea which is partly due to my eldest daughter is some new medical alert bracelets. I am told so often that young people dont like wearing the usual ones as they dont look attractive and make them feel different. So as some crystal bracelets I have been selling were doing so well seems they are the in thing I have adapted those into alert bracelets. The bracelets come in a range of colours and have the word Epipen, Asthma or Epilepsy on inbetween the beads, this part can then be turned around so its not seen leaving a lovely crystal bracelet on show with a small angel charm. So far I have had a few orders which will be made up as soon as the beads arrive Im waiting for . The one below is the first one I made for a friends daughter. These are now on the website just email me with the details and the colour choose from clear, black, blue or dark amethyst, pink or champagne.
Right off to enjoy my saturday and wait for the postman with those beads !!

Christmas is coming

Well even thought I was kicking and screaming christmas is coming and I did have to start making christmas stuff !!!

Got a MBS fair tomorrow so been making some christmas cards and a few Starlight christmas angels I am please with how the little angels turned out. They do take a while to make as they are all hand stitched with beads and sequins on them. Hope you like them, hang them on the christmas tree or just collect them if you like angels !
So everything is packed and ready to go tomorrow morning we will be at Coleshill Town Hall 10.30am till 4.30 pm if you live near pop along ans say hello.

Lavender hearts update

One of the smaller hearts made into a keyring !

One of the larger hearts and each one has a small message on the back of it perfect small gift for someone.

Ok have made a few of the hearts some small ones which have been made into keyrings and I have to say they smell wonderful and some larger ones which can be hung in the wardrobe, or placed in a drawer or by the bed for a restful nights sleep. Whatever you choose they all smell great anyway!!

Oooo Lavender...............................

Well I am the proud owner of some beautiful dried lavender from Provence its highly scented and smells gorgous !
So I have set to work on some lovely floral lavender hearts had to do a couple before I got into the swing of it but think Im ok now just have lavender everywhere (the hearts are not the easiest things to fill) but I am totally chilled out an added bonus. Anyway taking a coffee break as need to clear my head a little before I go make some more.
As any crafter will tell you never throw away anything I dont !! maybe why I cant actually find anything at the moment well the scrap material left over from the larger hearts is making some lovely little lavender heart key rings which also smell lovely.
Watch this space for some pics once they are all finished just waiting on some lovely message ribbon to arrive to finish them off.

Well the weather is turning colder and its getting darker earlier thoughts of winter and christmas start to creep in to your mind ! So as I have already got another three MBS Fairs to do I thought it was about time to make a few new items and do some stocking fillers which are easily affordable. After all its an expensive time for everyone so thought I would share a couple of photos with you as they arent available on the website just yet.
Below are the new Fairy and Angel earrings each combined with sparkly crystal beads very pretty and ideal presents for those who love anything angel or fairy !

These are sweet angel and fairy book marks great ideas for the teacher or a friend who loves reading. They are made with crystal beads and tobetan silver charms each individual and sparkly.

Coming soon will be something just for christmas but still angelic well thats if my creative ideas work out !

Sunday is the MBS Fair in Northfield if you live near by drop in say hello , 2pm till 6pm at the Austin Sports and Social club.

Mind, Body and Spirit Fairs

Well with the sun shining and my daughter by my side off to Wombourne to the latest event, a charity Mind, Body, Spirit Fair in aid of the local Hospice and Womens Aid. There were stalls selling and therapists every where you looked and although the day wasnt packed with visitors it was a good day.
Starlight Therapies and gifts had a stall with all my current goodies which seemed to go down very well in fact I was told the prices were very reasonable. This is always nice to hear !!
So I already have an events page on the website but am unashamedly going to post the dates of the next ones on here too the more visitors the merrier plus you can do some early christmas shopping !!
So next sunday 25th September at Northfield Sports and Social Club 2.00pm till 6.00pm pop along if you live close I would love to meet you.
Sunday 16th October Coleshill Town Hall 10.30am till 4.00pm will be the next one and I have another coming up in November at the Fellowship Hall in Sutton Coldfield so watch out for the date for that one.
Ok now its time to put the feet up and take a rest before making up some new items and a few new cards.

Another little project

Ok in my last blog I mentioned I was going to be making up a folding keepsake book for a friend well its done, so thought I would pop on here and show you the finished article ! I discovered this one when I did a 4 hour workshop and the first one is pretty hard going lots of measuring. After that its plain sailing and they look so good once all the photos have been put in and the embellishments completed. This one has been ordered and so my friend will be filling it and decorating it but I could make and decorate it if you would like. It can be made to whatever colours you would like for whatever occasion.

Lazy sunday

I hope everyone is feeling great today been a busy week for me this last week and back to my "day job" tomorrow so crafting time will be a lot less. I have an order for a folding keepsake book so will be off soon to start that !
The latest trend seems to be fimo sweetie jewellery and my eldest daughter is very taken with it have to say I prefer the vintage looks myself but each to their own.
Friday I completed another batch of the small floral vintage heart keyrings which have turned out really nice so I am pleased with them.
Right crafting calls and pop back when you can to see any news updates and events I will be attending.
Next event is the Wombourne "Craft and Holistic Weekend" at the Wombourne Community Centre in Wombourne on Saturday and Sunday 17th and 18th of September 10.00am till 4.00pm both days. I will be attending on the saturday only. So if you live near please pop in and say hi Id love to meet you and pick up a bargain or early christmas present.

Making a small accordian keepsake book

What you will need;
1 x 30cm x 30cm piece of card
2 x 30cm x 30cm sheets of co ordinating paper
1 x Ruler
1 x Pencil
1 x Glue stick
2 x Brads
1 x 35cm piece of ribbon
Embellishments to decorate the finished book

Instructions;

1. Take your piece of card and measure out every 10cm so that you end up with 9 squares down on the back of the card.

2. Cut the card into three strips each with 3 squares

3. Take one of the strips and cut off the last square the piece left should be folded in half and will be the hinge that links the other two strips together.

4. Glue the "hinge" to the last square of each of the other two strips.

5. Next fold alternate valley and mountain folds so that you get a folding book.

6. Next measure out lines on the both pieces of your co ordinating paper so that you end up with 9 squares of 9cm and you will have some scrap on each side see photo.

7. Cut up the paper into squares and decide which pattern you would like on the outside of the book and which one will go on the inside of the book.

8. Now you will need to glue a square of your chosen paper on to each square on the book before you glue these down you could round off the corners on each piece of paper so that it gives a professional appearance this can be done with a corner punch.
Once you have your pages complete you have the choice to insert a brad in the centre of the edge on the front and the back of your book and attach your ribbon to tie around the book keeping it closed when needed.

Then comes the fun part decorating your book you can choose what theme you want and what photos and embellishments you include.
The book is a lovely little keepsake for photos or make it into an unusual birthday card.

New stock

Well as you have read this is all new and I am still finding my way around but wanted to let you see some new items that will be going to the next Mind, Body, Spirit and Craft Fair in Wombourne.

As you can see these are some little vintage floral book bags just had to make these up as the colours and material was so cute. I have made them up in blues, pinks and greens. This afternoon I have been making up a couple of bags just for the boys ! They have little boats on them and have to say they look quite good pictures to follow.
I am hoping tomorrow will be sunny and dry as we are off the the Gloucester Tall Ships at the docks , I am told there will be some craft stalls so being the nosy person I am will be on the look out for some new ideas.
